Bryan Norton

Bryan Norton is a Jesuit priest and classical philologist. He entered the Society of Jesus in 2008. As a Jesuit, he has taught at Xavier University (Cincinnati, OH) and studied theology abroad (Paris, France). Norton earned his Ph.D. in Classics at Washington University in St. Louis. He works on archaic Greek poetry in its textual, literary, and performative dimensions. His intellectual interests meet at the crossroads of the divine and mortal realms. In his current book project, for example, he is exploring the poetic reflection on death in Pindar’s victory odes. Norton enjoys working with students in a broad range of courses on ancient Greek language, literature, and culture.
